As of 10:25am, the Black Rainstorm Warning Signal has been in force.
According to the Hong Kong Observatory, that means that “heavy rain has fallen or is expected to fall generally over Hong Kong, exceeding 70 millimetres in an hour, and is likely to continue”.
Translation: It’s raining buckets fullof cats and dogs, if you hadn’t noticed while wading ankle-deep in grey water on your way to work.
But seriously, if you’re outside (but still dutifully reading Coconuts HK on your phone), please seek shelter and stay there. Do not travel until the Black Storm signal is no longer in force. Stay away from watercourses, lest you get swept away by unexpected surges.
We also recommend finding a steaming mug of milk tea and a cuddly animal to help you through this weather.
