Raging Tung Chung office fire may set back Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge by months

On Monday at around 11pm, several blocks of the offices at the construction site of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge were engulfed in a raging fire. The offices are located near the Tung Chung New Ferry Development Pier.

Firefighters took around two hours to put the blaze out, requiring the use of six water jets and six firefighting teams, reports Apple Daily.

It is suspected that computer equipment overheating caused the fire.

Thankfully, no one was injured.

A Redditor by the username of Nanosheep claims that he/she/other worked in the now burnt down offices, and posted photos of both the fire and the aftermath.

Nanosheep says that the bridge would be delayed “by a few months” since “all [their] documents were destroyed”, but added that the project would have been delayed anyway, “fire or not”.

But Nanosheep is a glass-half-full kind of person: “On the bright side we all have a harbour view now.”
