Yesterday was International Breakfast Day, where McDonald’s gave out free Bacon & Egg McMuffins (worth HK$15) at all their McDonald’s restaurants. We suppose its no surprise that in a city where queuing is almost a national pastime, queues for these free burgers began at 3am, and most of the people in line were seniors.
By 5am outside McDonald’s in To Kwa Wan Road there were 100 people in line, with some seniors bringing their helpers and stools to sit on. According to a McDonald’s spokesperson, 75 percent of McDonald’s restaurants ran out of free McMuffins within two and a half hours after opening at 6am yesterday morning.
