Python crushes dog to death in Sai Kung

A five-metre-long python killed a dog in a Sai Kung country park.

The dog owner, Heyring said they were walking down the family trail path for about 20 minutes when the python struck their dog, Charlie, who was about 28kg.

Heyring tried to hit the python with a walking stick but when she did so, it agitated the snake even more and constricted around the dog further and after about a minute Charlie stopped squealing, according to the SCMP.

Heyring returned to the spot of the attack with the police shortly after but the python and Charlie were gone.

This is the third reported python attack in recent weeks in the area.
