Hong Kong Government House Living Room
Protestors fighting for press freedom flocked to Hong Kong’s Government House, hoping to stage a demonstration.
About a dozen of protestors, were allowed in as the house was open for public visits today, but were later kicked out when security guards caught them tying blue ribbons, a symbol for press freedom in Hong Kong, to furnishings in the house.
After the attack on former Ming Pao newspaper’s chief editor and the sacking of outspoken government critic Lee Wei-ling, Hongkongers are feeling the freedom of press and speech is diminishing, and protestors hope to raise more public concern and awareness on the issue.
