As the richest political party in Hong Kong, having raised a record HKD68 million at its last charity dinner according to reports, you’d think these guys could afford some English lessons.
Two members of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (let’s just call them by their acronym, DAB) have seemingly independently delivered their Christmas messages to the Hong Kong public in full on Colonial-style Chinglish.

While Sheung Shui District Councillor Lam Wai-leung wished us a “Marry” Christmas on his street banner, his North District counterpart Simon Wong went with Merry “Chrismax” instead.
If only they had put their heads together on this one, we could have had an actually correct “Merry Christmas” or, even better, a full-blown, totally botched “Marry Chrismax”.
There’s always next year, guys!
