Poverty Commission to launch HK$5 million scheme

What great news for those living in poverty in Hong Kong – the government is finally doing a little something to help them!

The Poverty Commission announced yesterday a HK$5 million poverty alleviation scheme will be launched in Feb. this year.

The scheme, named “Bless Hong Kong”, will organise activities and events for the needy, such as complimentary football match tickets to poor families and free dim-sum meals for the elderly.

Lorena Ki, vice chairman of the Commission on Poverty’s Societal Engagement Task Force, hopes to increase public awareness of poverty in Hong Kong through the scheme.
