A local secondary school for girls is under scrutiny after an anonymous post alleging that students were ordered by teachers to pull out their bra straps for inspection went viral yesterday.
In a post shared on the anonymous “Elite Schools Secrets” Facebook page, a netizen claiming to be a pupil at Belilios Public School in North Point said the whole student population was asked to stay after assembly yesterday.
“Turns out they needed to check the colour of our bras. We were given the option of either pulling out our bra straps to have the colour inspected, or take off our clothes [Editor’s note: it’s not clear what items of clothing this refers to]. It’s really extreme, they don’t respect the students here.”
Since the post went live at 6pm yesterday, it has received 4,000 reactions, hundreds of shares, hundreds of comments, and coverage in local media.
Netizens called the claims “insane”, with the top comment (which was “liked” over 2,000 times) questioning why the colour of students’ bras was even important.
Others who said they were BPS students said the accusation was exaggerated, and that pupils weren’t required to pull out their bra straps, but had been asked to take off their jumpers for uniform inspections.
At the time of writing, the school has not responded to requests for comment from local media.

BPS’ official website shows that students have four different types of uniforms, and must wear “white coloured underwear” in the summer and winter.
