It appeared to be a case of wrong place, wrong time for a cafe customer whose arm was slashed in a random knife attack about 6:30pm last night.
No sooner had the victim entered the local eatery on Choi Hung Road, when he crossed paths with the knife-wielding suspect, who can be seen raising the blade and drawing it across the unsuspecting man’s upper arm before walking off as though nothing has happened. You can see the incredibly casual looking attack just after the 2-minute mark of the video below.
The episode in Wong Tai Sin was caught on CCTV, while footage filmed later by an onlooker showed the suspect’s arrest by several officers following a tense stand-off nearby.

The suspect had been in the cafe for several minutes prior to the attack. He can be seen confronting a woman in the kitchen and watching diners, who appear tense but unsure about what’s going on.
After leaving, the man lingered at a supermarket before trying to get into a parked vehicle near Tai Tung and Tai Shing streets, the SCMP reported.
Another video, seemingly shot on a mobile phone, shows the suspect surrounded by several police officers, some wielding batons and shields and others with their hands ready to draw their guns.
He resists calls to drop the knife and surrender and, after a stand-off, is subdued and wrestled to the ground.
Giving his age as 22, the SCMP reported the suspect was a graduate from the Institute of Vocational Education who had recently lost his job as a clerk and lived with his parents and a younger brother in the neighboring Lower Wong Tai Sin Estate.
Headline Daily reported the man was arrested on suspicion of wounding and that police were looking for a motive behind the attack.
The victim, meanwhile, was treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a minor wound and discharged, the outlet added.
