Well, it looks like we’re all in for a dull 420 this year. (We kid, we kid). Hong Kong police announced today that they seized a whopping 580kg of cannabis buds in the city’s biggest weed bust of all time.

Just to put that in perspective, the Hong Kong police force seized 402kg of weed in 2019. In total.

In a press conference this afternoon, Chief Superintendent Chung Wing-man said that the haul had an estimated market value of HKD100 million.

The bust was made in the early hours of yesterday at a container terminal in Kwai Chung. Three men aged 41 to 56 were arrested in connection with the case. Two of the suspects are Hong Kong citizens, while the third is a Canadian national of Chinese descent.

The shipment was reportedly sent from Canada, where recreational and medical use of cannabis is legal. Chung said that police had previously intercepted a 70kg shipment of cannabis from Canada in January.
