Police search for family of baby abandoned at BBQ pit in Sai Kung

Hong Kong police are searching for the family of an infant girl who was reportedly abandoned next to a barbecue pit in Sai Kung.

At around 2pm today, a cleaner surnamed Lam found the child alone on a bench at a barbecue site at Tso Wo Hang, Sai Kung.

The baby was fully dressed and wrapped in a blanket, with a lai see packet placed on top. Inside the envelope, Lam found a note which said “Five months cerebral palsy” in Simplified Chinese, Apple Daily reports.

Lam called emergency services, who took the child to Tseung Kwan O Hospital. Police officers from the Wong Tai Sin District Crime Squad is underway are currently trying to confirm the girl’s identity and locate her family.

On Nov. 19, a 42-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly abandoned her two-week-old son at a public library in Mong Kok “to go have dimsum“.
