Police are investigating a possible murder-suicide after a man jumped to his death from a building in Sheung Wan and officers found his wife, seriously injured, inside at the same address.

According to HK01, the 68-year-old man fell from the Hua Qin International Building on Queen’s Road Central. He was found just after 7:50am.

Inside a unit in the building, officers discovered a 64-year-old woman, reported to be the deceased’s wife, who had been attacked with a knife, Apple Daily reported.

Severely injured and unconscious, she was taken to Ruttonjee Hospital, where she was later certified dead. Police are treating her death as murder.

According to the outlet, the pair were husband and wife and worked at the building — him as a security guard and her as a cleaner.

Officers have retrieved security camera footage which shows the man ascending the lift at about 6:30am this morning.

Citing sources, RTHK reports the pair had an argument before the tragedy, while Apple Daily reported that the couple were in the middle of divorce proceedings.
