Hong Kong’s Police Dog Unit is celebrating the arrival of 11 potential recruits after one of its four-legged frontline officers gave birth to a litter just shy of a dozen.

Offering a welcome break from its normal updates about, you know, crime and stuff, the force announced on its Facebook that the 4-year-old K-9 named Arwen, a Belgian Malinois, delivered the pups on Monday.

The news was met with a collective awwww by netizens, who pointed out, quite insightfully, that the puppies — Arwen’s second litter after she had two pups in 2015 — are ADORABLE.

The Police Dog Unit in 2015 started a program for handlers to look after newborn puppy recruits to get them ready for life on the beat. They undergo basic training at between four to six months old.

According to the force’s website, the unit, started in 1949, mainly consists of Malinois, German Shepherds, Springer Spaniels, and Labrador Retrievers.

In recent years, the PDU has recruited the Belgian Shepherd, also known as “Malinois” as police dogs, which possess greater agility, an average lifespan of 13 years and are less susceptible to diseases and injuries.
