As Uncle Ben once told Peter Parker, aka Spiderman, “with great power comes great responsibility”.

It’s an adage you would think anyone driving an expensive sports car transformed into the web crawler’s answer to the Batmobile might keep in mind.

Sadly, not this guy, who fled the scene after the HK$4.8 million (US$614,000) Spiderman-themed McLaren 650S Coupé he was driving collided with another car on Saturday evening in Tseung Kwan O.

The Spider car — reportedly owned by the son of a shoe tycoon — veered out of control on Po Yap Road outside the Tseung Kwan O Plaza around 11pm, first colliding with a van and then hitting the curb.

The van driver, a 42-year-old man surnamed Chow was unhurt, while police are looking for the McLaren’s driver, Apple Daily reported.

According to the newspaper, the sports car belongs to Alex Tang, a businessman and son the  head of shoe-trading empire ATG Sourcing Patrick Tang, aka the”King of Shoes”.

Police are looking for the owner and driver of the car, and it is not clear if the younger Tang was behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

Tang is the CEO of XCOR Space Expeditions Asia, a subsidiary of the California-based space travel company that filed for bankruptcy in November.

He is also, we’re judging by this photo, a pretty big Spiderman fan.
