A video of a 12-year-old girl being slapped 21 times by a group of five people on the rooftop of a Hong Kong building is going viral.
At the beginning of the clip, the victim, who is dressed in a white top, blue jeans and a black hoodie, kneels down.
A girl, who is wearing a black mini skirt, then takes off the victim’s mask. She is joined by another girl, who then tells the victim how she is “very pretty” in Mandarin.
One of them then confronts the victim about why she was implicated in the victim’s matters.
The victim responds by saying, “I didn’t say anything.”
One of them then switches to Cantonese to tell the victim, “I know you’re very displeased.”
The girl in the black mini skirt then slaps the victim.
The group, which appears to be made up of four to five people including one boy, then takes turns slapping the victim.
Throughout the video, they speak in a mixture of Mandarin and Cantonese.
One person in the group also confronts the victim for distributing her photos, which the victim responds to her by asking when she did.
A boy can be heard asking them to slap harder.
One person also comments on how “half the Hong Kong people hate [the victim],” while another asks “how dare she come back to Hong Kong.”
Responding to queries from Coconuts, police said they received a report from the victim’s father on how his daughter was attacked.
The force said the incident took place on Saturday at 5:25pm on the rooftop of a building along Luen Yan Street.
They added that the victim is a 12-year-old who suffered injuries to her face from the attack and was sent to Pok Oi Hospital for treatment.
Police said the suspects include five Chinese girls.
The case is temporarily classified as an assault occasioning actual bodily harm and has been handed over to the Tsuen Wan Police District Criminal Investigation Team for follow-up.
No arrests have been made so far.
According to news site Channel C, the first person who slapped the victim in the video claimed to be from a triad group in Hong Kong.
