Hong Kong police are investigating the collapse of a tower crane at a construction site along Anderson Road in Sau Mau Ping that killed three workers and injured six others, according to local media.
The accident took place on Wednesday.
According to a report by Commercial Radio, officers from the regional crime unit of Kowloon East were at the scene on Thursday morning to investigate and gather evidence.
Work at the site involved has been suspended since Wednesday, but workers at other nearby sites were still working, the radio station added.
Commercial Radio quoted the police as saying that, due to the large site area and complex environment, the cause of the accident could not be determined for the time being.
They added that the central investigation would examine the material, design, operation and operation process of the crane as well as probe for any possible criminal components.
Police said they hoped to find the truth behind the incident and would assist the Coroner’s Court in following up on the incident, although they noted they have not come across any suspicious findings and no arrests have been made yet.
