Police arrest one of six suspects in fashion heiress kidnapping case

A Man thought to be part of a gang that kidnapped Hong Kong fashion heiress Queenie Rosita Law has been arrested trying to cross the border into mainland China.

Police said the 29-year-old, who was apprehended when trying to reach Shenzhen via the Lo Wu border crossing, is a visitor from the mainland, here on a two-way permit.

He is suspected of having been part of a gang of six men that kidnapped Law from her home in Repulse Bay in the early hours of April 25.

She told the SCMP that the Putonghua-speaking men hid her in a secluded cave in Fei Ngo Shan while they called her father and demanded a ransom.

She was released unharmed last Tuesday after HKD28 million was handed over.

Stephen Lo, acting Commissioner of Police said the manhunt for the other five suspects will continue while co-operation with their mainland counterparts will be enhanced.
