Police arrest man who allegedly killed ex-girlfriend with electric drill on building site

Police have arrested a security guard after he allegedly bludgeoned his ex-girlfriend to death with an electric drill on the building site where he worked.

According to Apple Daily, the 27-year-old security guard and his 25-year-old ex-girlfriend were with a friend at the building site early this morning. At around 2:16am, the friend called the police to report a fight between the pair, and officers arrived while the man was still allegedly attacking his ex with an electric drill.

Police officers reportedly subdued the man, but the victim had already sustained multiple head injuries and was unconscious. She was rushed to the hospital and declared dead at 3:10am.

The 25-year-old Austrian-Filipina is survived by her three children from a previous relationship.

The woman and her ex-boyfriend had reportedly only known each other for a few months before breaking up around two months ago. A source told Apple Daily that he and the victim’s other friends had encouraged her to dump her boyfriend after they learned that he had beaten her.

The suspect, who was reported by local media to be ethnically Pakistani, is currently in hospital to be treated for injuries to his hand and legs.

Tuen Mun District police are investigating whether the couple were under the influence of narcotics during their confrontation, as a small amount of suspected crystal methamphetamine was found at the building site. A post-mortem has been arranged in order to determine the cause of death.
