Not a good look.
Police have arrested the head of kindergarten after allegedly finding at least 200 surreptitiously-filmed videos on his computer, captured by hidden cameras installed in showers at his home and workplace.
Featured in these clips, according to Apple Daily, were colleagues, children and some elderly people.
Also making an appearance in some footage was the suspect, a 36-year-old surnamed Ma whom reportedly furtively filmed himself having sex with women in the shower.
According to HK01, Ma was arrested on Friday on suspicion of using a computer with dishonest after a tip-off the previous afternoon by a 29-year-old woman. He was later released on bail pending further investigation.
Ma, according to the report, began working at Joyful World kindergarten about four to five years ago after shifting from geological engineering and finance.
He allegedly started recording the covert clips in 2013 and police believe more than 50 people were filmed.
Sources with the preschool added that revelations had cast the suspect’s encouragement of staff socializing in a different light.
According to Apple Daily, Ma would often organise group activities for his colleagues like badminton matches after work.
He would invite them to his place hang out, and, you guessed it, let them use his shower, well allegedly.
Not that such allegations go down well in any profession, but Ma’s role as the director Joyful World International Nursery and Kindergarten’s Tsuen Wan campus has certainly rattled the preschool community.
The kindergarten reportedly held an emergency meeting yesterday to deal with the matter, while the Education Bureau confirmed to HK01 that they have been informed of the incident and would provide support to the school.
The Bureau declined to comment further but, speaking to Apple Daily, chairman of the Council on Professional Conduct in Education Lee Suet-ying remarked the allegations were a “very serious breach of the law”.
He also noted they were a violation of the “code of ethics for educators.”
Probably could extend that to a violation of the code of ethics for all of decent society, we reckon.
