Police arrest 31 suspected triad members over Tin Shui Wai brawl

Police arrested 31 suspected triad members this weekend, after fighting broke out between two triad factions in Tin Shui Wai around 10 days ago.

According to a police source of the SCMP, a bunch of jealous boyfriends from one faction of Wo Shing Wo triad society started on members of another faction of that society, thinking that the latter had been staring at their girlfriends (not at all high school-esque…).

At least 10 of the suspects are said to be students, seven are thought to be of Pakistani origin, and one participant is said to be as young as 12 years old.

The 10 suspects were part of a group of 31 males that allegedly met in Tin Wah Estate in order to launch a “revenge attack” on their rival gang in the area.

Police officers seized four knuckledusters, four cricket bats and two baseball bats when they arrested the 31 males, aged between 12 and 32, at Tin Wah Estate at around midnight on Saturday.

The individuals were either arrested for unlawful assembly and possession of offensive weapons.

None of the detainees had been charged by yesterday morning and were still being held for questioning.

The police source indicated that further arrests could be made.
