Poisoned bean sprouts flood Guangdong’s markets

As if mainland vegetables are not scary enough, Guangdong police destroyed two black market farms yesterday that produced 1.5 tonnes of poisoned, chemically-grown bean sprouts per day. These were sold to wholesale markets, restaurants, and wet markets. Apparently, in the last six months, these poisoned and unnatural bean sprouts have flooded the market to the whole city.

Made by disinfecting plastic buckets with cheap lime powder, and putting green beans or yellow beans inside, then spraying liberally with rootless sprout agents, AB powder, antibiotics, and other banned additives to harvest within six days, long-term consumption of these sprouts can damage the health and affect child development. Normally, bean sprouts do not need any chemicals to grow and take 10 days to harvest. Sounds disgusting!
