Plane delayed at Hong Kong airport after dopey cleaning staff accidentally inflate escape slide

It’s never a good sign when an aircraft’s evacuation slide is inflated, especially if the plane’s still on the tarmac.

But that’s exactly what happened yesterday to a Chicago-bound flight waiting to depart from Hong Kong International Airport.

The Cathay Pacific flight was delayed for an hour and a half while a new aircraft was readied after cleaning staff seemingly activated the slide by accident.

Or maybe, like everyone else in the world, they thought it would actually be pretty damn fun to use the slide in a non-emergency situation.

The flight eventually took off at 1:30pm carrying 227 passengers.

A Cathay spokesman apologised for the incident and promised a full investigation.
