Another day, another wild boar story. On Wednesday, we reported on a rogue boar evading capture for hours on end at the Conrad Hotel in Admiralty before scampering wild and free into the hillside.
Since then, officers from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) have been on one unsuccessful wild boar chase after another, as citizens reported a rash(er) of squealer sightings around Admiralty and Wan Chai.
However, it appears the pig (or one that at least looks very much like it) finally had its location pinned down. At approximately 7am today, police and AFCD officers located a small boar on Cotton Tree Drive in Hong Kong Park.
SCMP reports that at least a dozen police officials were on the scene, tapping their riot shields with batons to rattle the boar into capture. Despite all the pigs being out, the little scamp managed to break through police lines and escape again.
A spokesman of the AFCD could not confirm if the runaway rain drenched runt was the same pig who so easily eluded officers on Wednesday, but told Oriental Daily that they could not rule the possibility out, based on the boar’s appearance… and the fact that it’s super slippery.
According to Apple Daily and a livestream by local Periscope sensation Penguinsix, authorities have still not been able to trap any trotters as of about 11am. The saga continues! #hkboarwatch
