The Philippines finally pay up: One hostage victim compensated

OMG, finallllyyyyyy, more than three years after the Manila hostage incident, one of the victims have received compensation from the Philippine government!

The compensation, an undisclosed amount of money, has been given to Yik Siu-lung, one of the survivors in the tragedy. The money was collected from a Philippine businessmen.

Having suffered a shot through her face three years ago in the incident, Yik has gone through multiple operations to reconstruct her face however, still faces difficult chewing and swallowing food.

Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying said the money given to Yik would not compromise talks with the Philippines – the SAR government will continue to demand the Philippine government to apologise and compensate the victims’ families and survivors of the tragedy.
