Every time we go on one of those traveling carnival rides we have the uneasy feeling that we’re leaving our lives into the hands of mechanics who hastily put together a ride that then flings us over, sideways and under.
Some people’s fears came (mildly) true when their carnival ride encountered a malfuction at the temporary AIA Great European Carnival fair on the Central Harbourfront.
Yesterday at 4:45pm, eight people got stuck on the No LiMit ride for 20 minutes, as the operators were unable to lift the seat barriers, reports Apple Daily. No one was hurt.
Luckily the incident happened after the group had completed their turn, though they might not be happy to realized they were just swung 10 stories high by a faulty machine.
As far as rollercoaster mishaps go, it’s not the worst, but it might put a dampener on visitor numbers for the remainder of the Carnival’s run, until Feb. 22.
Visitors claim that staff tapped onto onlookers’ shoulders and told them “No pictures” while the ride was being repaired, because that’s a great way to treat your customers after they’ve just seen one of your rides break down.
The ride was shut down and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department was notified. Organisers said that they would thoroughly inspect the machine before it’s used again.
Below is the video preview the carnval made about the No LiMit ride. We would like to wager the video was made by someone high on crack.
