The Italian man got mobbed.
Let us explain. According to Apple Daily, a group of concerned citizens saw fit to stop an expatriate from Italy on a Mong Kok flyover on Wednesday night after the man was suspected of indecently touching a female pedestrian.
Scenes of the citizens’ arrest were shot (see the video here) by an onlooker and sent to the outlet. Things got pretty tense up there on the footbridge at Tong Mi Road.
According to the man who shot the clip, surnamed Wong, about six or seven men decided to try and apprehend the Italian national, who didn’t take kindly to it, not at all.
A scuffle erupted and police arrived at the scene at about 8pm that evening, resulting in the arrest of the 46-year-old Italian, who held a Hong Kong identity card.
The alleged victim, a 35-year-old woman, was pushed over in the commotion and taken to hospital with minor injuries. Her phone was also smashed.
It is now, according to Apple Daily, being treated as a case of indecent assault and criminal damage.
