One woman hospitalised after fight breaks out between five female inmates at Hong Kong prison

An incarcerated woman has been hospitalised in Hong Kong after a fight broke out between five female inmates at Lo Wu Correctional Institution yesterday.

According to a police report, the altercation started at a very precise 8:33am, when two “non-local remands persons” attacked three local women inside a dayroom with a ballpoint pen and a plastic stool.

The fight was stopped by correctional offers, but the three local women sustained minor injuries.

All five were sent to see the internal medical officer, while one of the local women was sent to public hospital for further treatment.

The women were aged between 22 and 46 and were jailed for offences ranging from staying in Hong Kong unlawfully to drug trafficking.

The police are investigating.
