One killed in five-vehicle accident after double-decker bus possibly runs red light

A male taxi driver, 57, was killed in a car accident that involved five vehicles in Tai Wai yesterday at 6pm.  

The five vehicles included two double-decker buses, a minibus, a taxi and a private car.

A KMB double-decker bus was traveling on Tai Chung Kiu Road in Tai Wai when the “tired” driver turned right onto Sha Kok Road, possibly running a red light, reports local news outlet The Sun.

The bus hit an oncoming taxi, which then collided with a minibus and a private van. Another passing double-decker bus was hit with debris.

The male driver of the KMB double-decker bus, aged 57, was arrested for causing death by dangerous driving.

Nineteen people, including 12 men and seven women aged nine to 79, were injured and sent to Prince of Wales Hospital and Alico Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital.
