Om Alone! World’s first interactive online yoga studio comes to Hong Kong

Is your yoga teacher a bit of a perv – always rutting up behind you to “correct your hips”? Does that hairy guy in the class keep passing wind in child’s pose?

Maybe it’s time you went super anti-social and did yoga at home over the internet.

The world’s first interactive online yoga studio is now available in Hong Kong, with qualified teachers giving lessons via webcams.

So if you’ve got space in your apartment for a yoga mat (tough call in Hong Kong, we know) and a decent internet connection, you too can downward dog in privacy. Finally!

Yoogaia (no idea how it’s pronounced) is officially on a mission to take over the world with their recent move to start live-streaming yoga sessions from their Helsinki studio to London, New York and Hong Kong.

They now have a Hong Kong studio to stream from too. Just don’t expect to actually be able to use it.

Founder and CEO Mikko Petäjä said about their Hong Kong arrival: “Basing Yoogaia in the city also gives us proximity to the mainland market where an estimated 10 million Chinese now practice yoga regularly. Hence, Hong Kong is strategically placed as our regional headquarters in Asia.”

Okay, now we feel a little used.

Even so, with weekly subscriptions from HKD95, it might be worth considering over Hong Kong’s standard sardine can sessions.

Check out the schedule here, and never leave the house again, except for burritos.
