Official bullies 90-year-old hawker and steps on her wares

After photos of an overzealous Food and Environmental Hygiene Department hawker control official bullying a 90-year-old street hawker hit the internet, netizens were outraged, and the department has received more than four complaints lodged against the official involved.

According to witnesses, the official told the old lady that she was blocking the street by selling her wares there, so the old lady immediately started to pack her goods and leave. However, Apple Daily reports that the official stepped on the old lady’s wares (to stop her from packing) and called for backup to confiscate her goods and arrest her. Luckily, angry passersby and onlookers helped the old lady to pack up her wares and assisted her. In the end, the official let the lady leave and no charges or arrests were made.
