Ocean Park’s celebrity giant panda An An just celebrated his 35th birthday, the theme park announced on social media Wednesday.
The elderly panda, 105 years old in human years, is the world’s oldest male giant panda under human care. He is among Ocean Park’s first generation of giant pandas.
According to the park, giant pandas living in the wild have an average lifespan of 20 years, while captive pandas can reach 30 years under human care.
In 2016, Ocean Park honored the life of Jia Jia, a 38-year-old female giant panda who was the world’s oldest in captivity.
Celebrating the special day with An An were 15-year-old panda pair Le Le and Ying Ying. The three indulged in cakes designed by Häagen-Dazs, which included bamboo, sweet potato and carrot, among other panda-friendly foods.

Le Le and Ying Ying also have birthdays coming up—the couple will mark their sweet sixteens in the coming two weeks.
There could be further cause for celebration too: Ocean Park reported earlier that the pair enjoyed a successful mating season, and that Ying Ying has been showing pregnancy symptoms since late July. The panda’s carers are monitoring her hormonal levels and behavioral changes, the park said.
