An employee working as a nurse at a doctor’s clinic was sentenced to time behind bars for stealing more than HK$2 million from her employer.
The 50-year-old nurse, Lo Suet-yee started work at gynecologist Lui Kit-ying’s clinic in the first year it was opened. Lo was in charge of registering patients, answering calls and managing consultation schedules.
Lui only found out the nurse was taking money from the clinic when taxes were much less in 2009 compared to 2010 despite business being relatively the same. The doctor looked into the accounts and found that Lo had falsified accounts and taken money totaling HK$2.03 million over the 10-years.
Lo has been sentenced to three years and eight months in jail.
