Nowhere is safe: Woman killed on pavement during car crash in Tsuen Wan

A 55-year-old pedestrian has died after a taxi mounted the pavement and crushed her following a crash in Tsuen Wan.

The 21-year-old owner of a private car has been arrested for dangerous driving related to a head-on collision at the junction of Sha Tsui Road and Tso Kung Street around 1pm yesterday.

The crash reportedly caused a taxi to lose control and ram into the pavement. A woman, walking nearby at the time, was trapped under the taxi and had to be rescued by firemen. She was pronounced dead at Princess Margaret Hospital around two hours later.

An 18-year-old male taxi passenger, the owner of the private car, and a 17-year-old girl were also rushed to hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses, and ask anyone who saw the incident to call (+852) 3661-1346 or (+852) 3661-1300.
