Not quite door to door delivery: Alibaba launches self-pick points across Hong Kong

Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba is extending its tentacles even further into neighbouring territories as it rolls out self-pickup for goods purchased on Taoboa Marketplace at more than 200 locations in Hong Kong.

The partnership with 7-Eleven and Hong Kong Post allows Hongkongers the option to pick up items at 125 points owned by the government-run postal service, with the remainder of locations provided by the convenience store.

The move is just the latest world domination attempt by Alibaba, which recently exported its Alipay offline payment system to Hong Kong, and struck up deals with South Korea’s lotte.com and Japan’s Rakuten. In May it also invested a hefty USD250 million or HKD 1.9 billion in SingPost’s new private postal service.
