Hundreds of passengers due to catch return flights from Phuket to Hong Kong this week have been stranded in paradise. Given the current weather conditions we’re experiencing here, we can’t say we feel too sorry for them!
Although it is not known how many of the passengers are Hong Kong nationals, it is understood that all those in question arrived in Phuket over the past ten days on City Airways flights. However, flights due to leave over the weekend and at the beginning of this week were cancelled, reportedly because the airline’s paperwork is not in order.
According to local website Phuketwan, an R Airlines aircraft was found for the stranded passengers yesterday, but there was no crew or pilot to man it. A spokesman for Thailand’s Tourism and Sport Ministry said all efforts are being made to arrange alternative transport.
Ah well guys, enjoy that sunshine while you’ve got it!
