No new local cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Hong Kong today, marking the fourth straight day that the city’s number of confirmed cases has remained at 1,037, and the sixth time in 10 days that zero new infections were detected.

However, the Center for Health Protection said in a statement that it was investigating an “overseas case” involving a man who flew into Hong Kong yesterday morning. The man, aged 32, took Cathay Pacific flight CX252 from London and was immediately taken to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital upon arrival. He is reported to be in stable condition.

Government officials are continuing to advise members of the public against visiting crowded areas during the holiday weekend, with the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department urging people not to sweep their relatives’ graves.

At midnight today, the government extended its travel restrictions by one more month. Until June 7, all incoming visitors are required to spend 14 days in quarantine upon arrival. The ban on foreign visitors (i.e. people who are not residents of Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, or mainland China) has also been extended.

During a press conference yesterday, however, Secretary for Food and Health Sophia Chan said that qualifying cross-border students and mainland visitors with business visit endorsements would be exempt from quarantine restrictions.
