As if the abundance of cheap laundrettes in Hong Kong isn’t convenient enough, innovative app Washie cuts out the tedious travel involved in this soon-to-be-dated service.
Perfect for those who can’t afford an apartment with a washing machine but yet apparently have the disposable income for a deluxe laundry service, Washie claims to be Hong Kong’s first on-demand laundry delivery and service application, and is available for both iOS and Android phones. The app guarantees 72-hour delivery, or, for an extra fee, 24-hour express service to cater to different levels of desperation.
Users can have their dirty laundry picked up and clean, fresh items dropped off at their chosen location across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. Better still, they can choose their preferred pick-up and delivery time between 9am and midnight (no worm for the early birds).
You can either pay per item (e.g. HKD50 for a dress, HKD135 for a blanket, or even HKD300 for a handbag) or select their “All-You-Can-Wash” deal for HKD99, except it’s not actually all you can wash at all. For HKD99, they will wash all the normal laundry items (i.e. no delicate items such as fur, leather, handbags or suits) that you can fit into a single bag measuring 60 centimetres by 80 centimetres, with any additional items or bags costing more.
Even if their “All-You-Can-Wash” deal is a bit misleading (and their app has a few kinks they need to smooth out), the app promises quality service with their exclusive partner being the laundry provider for big dogs such as the Shangri-la Hotels and Aberdeen Marina Club.
