Netizens help dog who ran onto MTR tracks reunite with owner

The adorable pup who wreaked havoc by wandering onto the tracks of the East Rail during rush hour yesterday morning has been reunited with her owner, thanks to the efforts of concerned netizens.

A Sham Shui Po resident surnamed Chan told Apple Daily that his dog, a two-and-a-half-year-old rescue called Chocolate, ran away after his father left the door open to empty the rubbish at around 8pm on Sunday.

After spending a sleepless night searching for Chocolate on the streets of Sham Shui Po, Chan says he was shocked to see reports of a dog matching his beloved mongrel’s description on MTR tracks the next morning.

He called the MTR hotline, but was apparently told that the dog in question had fled their custody. Chan then shared photos of Chocolate and appeals for information on Facebook, and began receiving information from netizens who believed they had seen his dog wandering around Kowloon.

Following sightings in Olympian City, Prince Edward, and Mong Kok, Chocolate was finally spotted on Yen Chow Street, where she was reunited with Chan, alive and well, just before 8pm yesterday evening.

“I’m so happy and grateful,” Chan told Apple Daily, before apologising for “any inconvenience Chocolate caused to the public”. “I was out of the house [when she ran away] and she just shot out. I think she was looking for me,” the relieved owner explained.
