As temperatures hit 33 degrees Celsius, the elderly have been suffering from extreme heat, with 99 elderly recorded to being sent to hospital for heat-related heart attacks and illnesses.
Yesterday, the Hong Kong Observatory issued a “very hot weather” warning, which is triggered when temperatures rise above 33 degrees Celsius. The warning was issued at 6:45am and cancelled at 7pm.
The Standard advises everyoe to stay in the shade, indoors with air-conditioning and avoid extended periods under the sun.
