A young man caused something of a commotion last night after he was pictured taking the MTR during rush hour wearing only a pair of Crocs and some earphones.

The 20-year-old, who was not identified, was first photographed getting cash out in his birthday suit from an HSBC ATM in Tsim Sha Tsui just before 7pm. (But where did he put the cash? Or his bank card, for that matter?)

A witness surnamed Lau told Apple Daily, “A security guard told the man that he was acting inappropriately, but [the naked man] said, ‘I’m living in my own game world, you can leave me alone. If people want to take photos, they can take photos.'”

The 20-year-old was then seen boarding a Central-bound MTR train at Tsim Sha Tsui Station, SCMP reports. He changed to the Island Line at Admiralty, where MTR workers followed him as railway control staff called the police.

In one video which was circulated on social media, the nude man can be heard telling one of the MTR staffers, “I’m getting off at Hang Hau. Will you let me ride the train there?”

The bemused MTR worker said, “Actually the way that you’re traveling is… not okay. Do you maybe need to get off the train and–“, to which the 20-year-old firmly retorted, “Nope, no need,” before taking a phone call.

A witness told Apple Daily that MTR staff rushed onto the train at North Point Station, wrapped the man’s bottom half with a towel, and formed a “human chain” around him to escort him onto the platform, where he was arrested at roughly 7:30pm.

A police source told SCMP that the young man, who lives on a Tseung Kwan O housing estate, is believed to have mental health issues and gave “incoherent responses” when questioned by officers.
