The mysterious deaths of 4,300 chickens in Yuen Long solved: heat stress

The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) has finished examining samples taken from a Yuen Long farm where a total of 4,300 chickens died over several days starting from August 9.

All tests for any infectious diseases came back negative, and the officials have concluded that the likely cause of the deaths was heat stress due to a power outage-caused failure of the ventilation system.

It seems like the chickens were doomed to die from heat or to be cooked by heat. We are happy to report that the remaining chickens’ health is gradually improving.
