Services on the East Rail line were temporarily suspended this morning after a woman fell onto the tracks at one of the city’s busiest stations, a development that came just hours after a train collision cut service on part of the Tsuen Wan line as well.

According to on.cc, the incident happened at 10am this morning when a 43-year-old woman suddenly fell from the platform at Kowloon Tong station — an interchange station for the Kwun Tong line — and ended up underneath a train bound for Lo Wu.

The train was stopped and MTR staff and firefighters went onto the tracks to try and get the woman out.

The woman reportedly sustained a back injury, but was taken to hospital in a conscious state.

Services between Mong Kok East and Tai Wai stations were temporarily suspended as a result, and a free shuttle bus from Tai Wai to Kowloon Tong was arranged. Headline Daily reports services were running as normal as of 11am this morning.

On.cc also reported that police found a suicide note at the scene, and the case is being treated as an attempted suicide.
