MTR claims mainland-made trains not the cause of yesterday’s fiasco

MTR is pressured to find the root of the problem that disrupted train services on the Tseung Kwan O line for nearly five hours yesterday as the government gives them three working days to file a full report.

The MTR Corporation is insisting the cause of the dislodging of an overhead cable was not due to the design of the mainland-made train – as speculated by many experts.

Director of MTR’s operations, Lau Tin-shing says investigations are underway as to why the 20-metre long section of an overhead power cable was dislodged. The loose cable caused the power failure and suspended MTR services.

Compensation to all passengers affected will be done so via MTR’s Fare Adjustment Mechanisim, reports the RTHK.
