Mother fined for hitting daughter with wooden stick and smashing school’s glass door

A 42-year-old mother was fined HK$2,000 by the Sha Tin Courts for child abuse and criminal damage.

At court the mother admitted to have beat her daughter with a wooden stick on Dec. 15 last year for ten minutes because of her bad grades at school and for lying. The daughter was beat so bad that her face and arm were seriously injured and she had to be hospitalised.

The mother also caused more drama when she stormed up to her daughter’s primary school, demanding to see the principal. However, she was stopped by the school’s staff and angrily smashed the school’s glass door.

The mother pleaded with the court that she is a single mother, trying her best to take care of her daughter and therefore, acted impulsively. The judge fined her HK$2,000 for child abuse and HK$2,200 to reimburse the school for their shattered glass door, reports the Oriental Daily
