A 40-year-old woman was arrested today on charges of child neglect. The woman left her 10-year-old son unattended at their Tai Po home for three days while away from Hong Kong, according to Ming Pao.
The law states that leaving any child under the age of 16 unattended at home is illegal.
Social workers uncovered this incident and contacted the police, who arrested the mother immediately at the scene. The case has been handed to the Tai Po police department for further investigation.
