More details on how passerby was killed by chair thrown from building

More information have been reported on how a chair thrown from a building in Mong Kok killed a man.

The incident happened at 1am this morning when a 29-year-old man, surnamed Wong, was walking along 74-84 Sai Yeung Choi Street heading home with two other friends. Wong who was walking in the outermost part of the pedestrian sidewalk was suddenly struck by an office chair thrown from a building rooftop.

He was struck badly on the head, loss a lot of blood, and while waiting for the paramedics was passing in and out of consciousness. Wong’s friends kept talking to him, telling him not to fall asleep. Unfortunately, Wong was confirmed dead at Kwong Wah hospital.

Police later cordoned off blocks around the area and found a suspicious 22-year-old man on the rooftop of a building on 59-61 Sai Yeung Choi street. He reeked of alcohol and when confronted by the police, admitted to throwing the office chair onto the streets. At where he was arrested, police found more junk furniture and an office chair that was the same model as the one that hit Wong.

Police reported later that the 22-year-old man arrested had been receiving psychiatric help for the past six months. The case is being classified as murder.

Wong, called Ah Tik by most of his close friends, was a sales at a shoe shop at Silvercord Shopping Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui, as reported by the Oriental Daily.
