A gutsy monkey was spotted “stealing” bread from a convenience store in Tuen Mun in Hong Kong in a clip circulating on the internet.

In the video, the monkey can be seen skillfully grabbing a packet of bread before fleeing the scene.

Some netizens said the video was taken at a Circle K convenience store in Leung King Estate in Tuen Mun, adding that the two monkeys in the clip are frequently spotted in the area.

In another clip, the primate can be seen enjoying its prize.

The person who uploaded the video said the store assistant went after the monkey but it had already finished eating the bread by then.

“Why didn’t it use its consumption vouchers,” joked one netizen, referring to the HK$10,000 (US$1,274) worth of electronic coupons that all Hongkongers and new arrivals from the mainland are getting this year.

On a more serious note, another internet user said this sort of behavior was a result of people feeding wild animals.
