Someone’s been abusing Google Translate…
Yesterday, English teacher Hoiyat Siu shared a photo on Facebook of a poorly translated Citysuper poster for sandwiches. He captioned it “Up mud?”, the transcription of a Hong Kong phrase that roughly translates to, “Say what?”
Hong Kong netizens thought it was hilarious, liking it over 1,500 times and sharing it almost 900 times.
“In addition to delicious, they aim to less of sugar, salt, oil and affordable,” the poster gushes about the sandwiches, which are made by Taiwanese company Hung Rui Chen.
The sandwiches have “the perfect combination to make seemingly ordinary sandwich has extraordinary taste buds.”
Wait, this thing has taste buds?! Is it alive?!
The products, which we understand are pre-packaged, plain, ham and cheese white-bread sandwiches, are apparently being flown in by the high-end supermarket.
We might have to go and see what the fuss is all about, because why on earth would you air-deliver something you can make in your kitchen for HKD5 in 30 seconds?
