The bronze sculpture of McDull – undeniably Hong Kong’s most beloved pig character – on the Avenue of Stars has fallen victim to vandalism, with graffiti spotted on his belly on Thursday.

Pictures taken by Sing Tao Daily show a large doodle in cyan on the statue, which is located along the Victoria Harbour waterfront in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Police said they received a report regarding damage to the property from the avenue’s management at 9:02 am on Thursday.

They added the avenue’s management would not pursue the matter further.

The Avenue of Stars is owned by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and managed by the Avenue of Stars Management, which is under New World Development.

Modeled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Avenue of Stars honors celebrities from Hong Kong’s film industry.

Created by writer Brian Tse and cartoonist Alice Mak, McDull is an adorable pig that has a warm personality.

He first came to fame as a supporting character in his cousin McMug’s comic strips but has since become a central character.

McDull has been featured in several comics, TV shows and films, including My Life as McDull – the first animated feature film adapted from McDull’s comics.
