Many Filipino, Pakistani, and Nepalese children in HK deprived of nursery education

A study conducted by Professor Chou Kee-lee from the Hong Kong Institute of Education found that about 20 percent of children from ethnic minority backgrounds do not attend nursery or kindergarten due to high annual tuition fees.

Those affected are usually Filipino, Pakistani, or Nepalese descent including those from mixed marriages.

It is believed that these minority groups are also more likely to drop out of secondary school and Chou believes urgent action is needed to help ethnic minorities receive proper education.
